'Our Time Will Come' leads 37th Hong Kong film award nominations

Hong Kong director Ann Hui's World War II movie Our Time Will Come leads the 37th Hong Kong Film Awards race with 11 nominations, followed by Love Education, nine, directed by Taiwan director Sylvia Chang, the film association announced on Tuesday.

Our Time Will Come, starring big-name Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan stars, follows a story about resistance guerillas fighting Japanese in Hong Kong in 1940s. The movie secured a series of heavyweight nominations ranging from best film to best sound design.

The 2017 mainland patriotic hit movie Wolf Warrior II, the nostalgic Duckweed directed by Han Han and Feng Xiaogang's Youth will compete for the best film from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan along with two Taiwan films, the 54th Golden Horse-winning The Great Buddha+ and The Bold, The Corrupt, And The Beautiful.

Veteran Hong Kong actor Andy Lau starring as a bomb disposal expert in Shock Wave and mainland director and actor Tian Zhuangzhuang for Love Education entered the best actor list together with Ronald Cheng for Concerto of The Bully, Louis Koo for Paradox and Tomorrow Is Another Day's actor Ling Man Lung.

Chinese mainland actress Zhou Xun, who stars as a Hong Kong teacher-turned-guerrilla leader in Our Time Will Come, is competing for best actress title along with Sylvia Chang, Chrissie Chau for 29+1, The Empty Hands' Stephen Tang and Teresa Mo for Tomorrow Is Another Day.

The 37th Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony will be broadcast on ViuTV Channel 99.
