Shanghai facilitates community processing

Locals will be able to handle 161 out of 174 community matters at any community center throughout Shanghai from March 1, the municipal government announced Tuesday. From July this year, 11 more matters will be included on the list.

The new measurement aims to save time and trouble for residents and break the space limitation by setting up a unified information interaction platform. Previously, one needed to go to a particular service center which belongs to the same community as his registered household.

The operational hours of all centers have been unified and adjusted, serving residents all year round. In the past, the centers would close during national holidays. Moreover, the government will continue to promote online services to better serve the public.

Currently, the city boasts 220 service centers and 67 branch centers.
