K-pop boy band Wanna One's Kang Daniel has topped the South Korean "Best Idol" list for 17 consecutive weeks with more than 26,700 votes for the second week of July as of press time, beating BTS' Jimin and Jungkook by a wide margin.

Kang's global popularity and cultural influence has made him the center of attention lately.

With his attractive looks, hard-working nature and positive life attitude, he has gained a dramatically growing number of fans around the world.

For example, sales of the latest issue of Elle Korea, which featured Kang on its cover, broke the 10,000 mark in just a few days, while his first solo livestream on the Naver V app on Saturday received 100 million likes.

The 21-year-old entertainer, who rose to fame after standing out during the South Korean idol competition reality show Produce 101, hasn't yet to make the move to films or TV dramas, but this has not stopped his popularity from increasing.

Also on the Best Idol list following closely behind Kang is BTS's Jimin, who received around 24,000 votes on the Korean idol ranking website, while fellow member Jungkook received 7,108.

BTS is another widely celebrated K-pop group that just topped the Billboard 200 in May with their third full album Love Yourself: Tears.
