Members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will be able to experience historic events using virtual reality (VR) technology as a new Party building activity in China.

Wearing VR headsets, people can "march" through snowy mountains the way the Red Army, the forerunner of the People's Liberation Army, did 84 years ago during the Long March.

The equipment was placed in a VR exploration area for Party members of YUNJI, a local internet company in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province.

Through the VR headset, Party members can also visit revolutionary memorial museums and "ride" on the boat in Nanhu Lake where the CPC's 1st National Congress was held, the report said.

The 100-square-meter area includes four sections, including VR experience and QR code, where visitors can watch videos or listen to Party lectures by scanning the codes with their cell phones.

The Hangzhou cross-border e-commerce town, where the YUNJI company located, is where multiple companies in the field are located. Taking advantage of its technology, the town conducted Party building programs using information technology, of which the VR experience is part.

This is not the first or only case of the use of VR technology for Party building in China.

The local government of Zhuzhou county in Central China's Hunan Province developed a VR Party building map where citizens can get to know about the work progress of local Party organizations with the help of a hand-painted map of the county.

A Tianjin-based software company called China Matrix of Sciences Education promoted a VR product which can customize the content of a Party building activity.

Party members in Qingyang, East China's Shandong Province reportedly took loyalty tests with VR gear in May.
