A special ceremony was held on July 18 to officially release stamps commemorating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Maldives.

The stamps were produced by the Embassy of the Maldives in Beijing in collaboration with the Philatelic Association of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and were handed over to the embassy by the secretary general of the association, Ma Xiaoling.

The Maldivian Ambassador to China, Mohamed Faisal, received the stamps. Ambassador Faisal thanked the association for their strong support in producing the stamps. He said the commemorative set comprises six stamps which symbolize the cooperation and partnership between the two countries. Noting that the partnership has grown in strength over the past 45 years, particularly in the past four years, the ambassador said it's a partnership of win-win development that is rooted in mutual trust and respect.

He also highlighted the strong cooperation in infrastructural development, noting the completion of major aspects of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge and the runway component of the Male International Airport upgrading project.

As a partner of the Belt and Road initiative and a firm believer in the concept of a community with a shared destiny, the ambassador said the Maldives remains committed to enhancing bilateral, commercial and cultural ties with China.
