Lebanon's national carrier Middle East Airlines' Chairman Mohammad Al Hout said Tuesday that the national carrier will add 15 new aircrafts to its fleet by 2021, local media reported.

"We will add 15 of the most modern aircrafts to our fleet which will include internet service and all the necessary requirements for a comfortable trip," he was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an independent online newspaper.

However, Hout said that the carrier's profits in 2018 will be less than in 2017 due to the increase in the price of fuel oil and the tough situation at the airport.

Beirut's airport this year has faced several problems due to its small size compared to the number of passengers who use it.

Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced earlier this month a project to increase the capacity of Lebanon's international airport to accommodate five million additional annual passengers thanks to a grant from the Middle East Airlines to the Lebanese government.
