Australian conductor Dane Lam to lead Beijing Symphony Orchestra at Forbidden City Concert Hall

The Beijing Symphony Orchestra will stage a concert at the Forbidden City Concert Hall led by Australian conductor Dane Lam on Thursday night.

According to a press release sent to the Global Times on Wednesday, the orchestra is set to present Scheherazade by Russian composer Rimsky Korsakov and Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique Le Carnaval Romain by French composer Hector Louis Berlioz. Additionally, young harp performer Sun Shimeng will perform French composer Claude Debussy's Danse sacrée et Danse profane

In a statement, Sun said that the renowned harp concerto is the perfect fit for the harp and great for showcasing various musical elements.

After the performance, Sun is scheduled to head out on a nation-wide tour of China with the BBC National Orchestral of Wales.
