A group of Chinese artists sat down for a seminar held in Beijing on Friday to discuss the arrangement and display of artworks at the 2018 China International Import Expo (CIIE), which concluded in Shanghai on November 10.

Displays at CIIE included a wide variety of ancient artworks including Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) porcelains, wood carvings and paintings.

The collection at the expo also featured works from "pioneering" young ethnic Chinese artists from around the world.

Tong Yanrunan, art director for the main venue area at CIIE, noted that setting up the venue was no easy task. In addition to showcasing the personality of each artist, the curation of artworks at CIIE also had to weigh political and diplomatic considerations.

Artworks shown at CIIE include several rare works from renowned Chinese artists including late Chinese-French painter Zao Wou-ki's oil painting 300176 and late Qing Dynasty artist Wu Changshuo's painting White Magnolia.
