There are technical flaws in the latest iOS app (buyers' version) released by the Chinese e-commerce platform Pinduoduo, which has led to its short-term removal from the Apple Store in China, the company said Tuesday.

Pinduoduo is an e-commerce platform that allows users to participate in group buying deals at discounted rates.

On Tuesday morning, users found the app was absent from the Apple Store. After scanning its QR code on the platform's website to reach the Apple Store, a notice said "the item you've requested is not currently available in the Chinese Store."

"The company has contacted Apple and will put the app back after an immediate fix," a PR staffer from Pinduoduo told the Global Times on Tuesday.

The staffer noted that versions of the app in Android's Google Play and the iOS app (business version) downloads are not affected.

Founded in 2015, the Shanghai-based Pinduoduo debuted on the Nasdaq stock exchange in July and has 386 million active users. In August, China's market regulators announced an investigation into the e-commerce company for alleged counterfeit products after consumers and trademark holders complained that its app was selling counterfeits.

Apple did not offer comment to the Global Times as of press time.
