Music festival promotes China and France cultural exchange

he second edition of the Master Road, a China-France Music Cultural Exchange Festival, will kick off in Beijing on January 17.

According to the China-France Education and Culture Exchange Association, the organizers behind the event, the festival will include four concerts staged by Chinese and French musicians as well as three master classes and will tour to cities including Tianjin, Shanghai and Hangzhou.

For the festival, Chinese pianist Du Taihang, violinist Huang Mengla and musician Zhang Ying will perform with their French counterparts including Jerome Granjon and the Orchestra Chamber of Nouvelle Europe. 

An important part of China and France cultural exchange, the He Yuan or Garden of Harmony will be added to the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris as the park's 41st area. The garden is scheduled to be completed by 2020.

Chinese architect Zhang Yonghe also revealed that the public spaces in the new Garden of Harmony will be named after former Chinese leaders Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping, painters Xu Beihong and Zhao Wuji as well as writer Ba Jin and musician Xian Xinghai, all of whom once studied in France.
