The 2019 Liszt Ferenc International Youth Classic Music Week will take place in Pécs, Hungary, August 7-12, representatives of the organizing committee announced on Friday in Beijing.

To mark the 70th anniversary of China-Hungary diplomatic relations, China will be the week's guest of honor.

The music week will not only feature a number of performances, but also provide a platform for youth from around the world to share their ideas and communicate with one another.

As an important part of the music week, the Liszt Ferenc International Youth Piano Tournament will see young talent from China and Hungary compete on the same stage. The winners will have the opportunity to perform with Europe's top music masters.

According to the tournament's artistic director, Király Csaba, Hungary and China have a long-term friendship in terms of cultural exchange. Hungary is the first European country to take part in the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.
