A pair of young Chinese chess players added a new dimension to the challenging and ancient board game, leading millions of people on social media to ask, which tastes better, Coke or Pepsi?

The players swapped out the regular wooden chess pieces for cans of Coke representing the red team and cans of Pepsi the blue team. On the lid of each can they attached labels to indicate if the cans were a king, soldier or cannon.

The two young friends also added a new rule requiring them to drink the can of cola once one of the pieces was checked and taken off the board.

Photos posted on social media of their new twist to the old board game have been viewed 210 million times, sparking a heated discussion on which cola tastes better and which is more likely to win.

One of the players, surname Zhong, said they attempted to drink all the colas but they gave up on that idea. "We each drank 10 cans during one game," Zhong said recalling the stomachache that ensued.

Netizens laughed at the players' creative addition to the centuries-old board game, and many took sides by disparaging one cola or the other.

"What is Pepsi? I've never heard of it," wrote a Net user sarcastically, while another suggested Coke "deserves to be flushed down the toilet."

The rivalry between Coca-Cola and Pepsi is legendary and never stops. Two brands have been fighting each other for more than a century.
