A man in East China who couldn't get a driver's license because he's illiterate proved he's smart by building a vehicle powered by solar panels.

The man's odd-looking vehicle, which is a cross between a small flatbed wagon and a sports car with bucket seats was stopped by police on a street in Wuhu, Anhui Province on Monday.

In a video posted by The Beijing News the cops seem unimpressed by the bizarre tiny car that has solar panels on the hood where an engine would go, no roof or roll bar, a serious set of oversized headlight and only one pedal.

The man said he assembled the vehicle from a patchwork of parts he had taken from old and abandoned cars.

The police impounded the vehicle as it was unlicensed.

Netizens gave the man many compliments whose illiteracy prevents him from driving a real car but has amazing skills to manufacture an environment-friendly knockoff.
