Traffic police in Central China received a big surprise after they took in a driver who had not done his annual vehicle inspection on time.

Officials from the traffic department in Xixia county, Henan Province on Thursday were tracking a white Toyota with an overdue annual inspection record. When they found the car, the driver Zhao was found to be driving without a license.

But that was not the end of the story.

Further checks revealed that the white car had 196 traffic violation records, which meant the driver had to have 206 points deducted. The accumulated fines totaled 18,800 yuan ($2,717), according to an article on the WeChat account of local traffic police.

A driver license holder has 12 points. If all are deducted, he has to study traffic laws and regulations and take an exam to get his license back.

The violation record required nine pieces of A4 paper to print, which came to three meters long. The car was confiscated by the police and Zhao was detained in accordance with the law.

"Traffic violation records will not disappear no matter how long you wait. Please deal with them as soon as possible," the traffic police warned.
