Vice President Wang Qishan's upcoming visit to Pakistan will help deepen all-weather strategic cooperation and forge a closer community with a shared future between China and Pakistan, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Friday.

Wang will visit Pakistan starting from May 26 at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Spokesperson Lu Kang announced.

During the visit, Wang will meet with Pakistani President Arif Alvi and hold talks with Khan. The two sides will exchange views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern, according to Lu.

As all-weather strategic cooperative partners and "iron friends," China and Pakistan have firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, and China has all along taken Pakistan as a priority in its diplomacy, Lu said.

He added that bilateral relations enjoyed sound momentum with frequent high-level exchanges, deepening cooperation and close coordination in global and regional affairs.

Lu said the visit is expected to deepen high-level exchanges, friendship and mutual trust, facilitate the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and cooperation in various fields, and help promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

"It will add new impetus to deepening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and to building a closer community with a shared future between the two countries in a new era," Lu noted.
