About 6,000 enthusiasts participated in the X-Mudder event over the weekend in Shunyi district of Beijing, organizers said. 

The event, divided into two disciplines: the classic race, which attracted more than 5,000 to compete, and the parent-child race.

Founded in 2015, the X-Mudder event originated from military-style obstacle courses and has become more and more popular in China. 

It focuses on promoting courage, endurance, teamwork and personal accomplishment.

The event will continue its tour in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province, in June.
