A series of celebratory events will be held across various cities in China to mark the country's Cultural Heritage Day, which falls on June 8 this year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on Thursday.

The main events for the holiday will take place from June 7 to 10 in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong Province. The public will have a chance to closely learn about and experience 40 items on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list through exhibitions, showcases and lectures.

Additionally, Guangzhou will also host events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Yueju Opera being listed as an UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Other events like cultural heritage exhibitions, paper cutting competitions and handicraft showcases will take place in cities such as Tianjin and Chongqing.

The country's revolutionary cultural heritage will be highlighted at this year's event, according to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.

Yan'an in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, cradle of the Chinese revolution led by Chairman Mao, will host a series of events as well. 5G mobile technology as well as full-dome movies will showcase the city's revolutionary cultural treasures.
