A father who let his 7-year-old son drive on a busy road in downtown Liuzhou, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was fined by police after they saw the dangerous stunt he posted on WeChat.

The video shows the son apparently sitting on his father's lap as the boy steers the car.

As the vehicle drifts into another lane, the boy nervously shouts "Papa!" while the father, surnamed Wei, giggles, according to a post by Liuzhou police on Sina Weibo on Monday.

Wei posted the video on WeChat but deleted it half an hour later, which wasn't fast.

The local traffic police launched an investigation after they said they received reports from concerned citizens. Police looked at traffic camera video, and discovered Wei had also let his son stand with his head out of the sunroof as they drove.

Police says Wei told them it was the son who insisted on trying the dangerous acts.

The police fined Wei 300 yuan ($43), deducted his two traffic points and revoked his driver's license.

The traffic violation triggered an avalanche of criticism towards Wei on social media, with many saying Wei's ridiculously dangerous acts could harm him, his son and passersby.
