 A man in South China changed his mind about committing suicide by jumping from the seventh floor after singing a love song with his neighbor.

The man climbed on the outdoor air conditioning unit of an apartment in Foshan, Guangdong Province on August 7, according to a report posted by the Nanfang Metropolis Daily.

A neighbor spotted the middle-aged man on his precarious perch. 

The neighbor persuaded him to first sing a song and played the background music of a well-known Cantonese love song for him.

Both men sang the song together, while rescue workers on the ground are seen with an air cushion but for some reason carry it away from underneath the man.

In a video apparently shot by the neighbor, he compliments the man's full-throated rendition of the song and discusses the meaning of the lyrics. When the man sang the part about longing to see a lover, his neighbor asked who it was he wanted to see.

After singing the song, the man calms down and climbs off the air conditioner and with the help of others back to safety.

Netizens praised the neighbor for his quick and creative thinking that had helped save a life.

"If you feel life is hopeless, you should go to a concert, listen to the songs and sing them yourself. Music can make people relax," a netizens wrote.
