Cyprus stands ready to advance its partnership in multiple areas with China, and their bonds run deep, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades said on Tuesday.

Anastasiades made this remark while attending a reception by the Chinese embassy to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

China has made remarkable achievements in economic and social development over the past seven decades, which has had a positive influence on the international community, Anastasiades said in his address.

The Cypriot government stands ready to work closely with the Chinese government to promote the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, so as to further its strategic ties with China, he said.

Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Huang Xingyuan told the guests that China and Cyprus have seen frequent contacts between top officials and strengthened political mutual trust.

There are enormous potential and a promising outlook for China-Cyprus cooperation, Huang added.
