An elderly woman in Southwest China who stuffed veggies in her Louis Vuitton bag, attracted police and led to her daughter being busted for selling counterfeits.

Police in Chongqing Municipality had been on the case for several  months after a woman surnamed Qi, who lives in Northwest China's Gansu Province complained she had bought a fake Chanel bag from an online shop.

Qi said she paid 6,999 yuan ($987) for the bag after the shop owner promised her the bag was a real Chanel. She sent the bag to Shanghai for authentication, and was told it was a fake.

The shop owner only agreed to refund her about 4,000 yuan, so Qi called the local police.

Qi could only provide the name of a Chongqing shop which no long existed. The only clue the police had to go on was the likely area the suspect lived in.

Police thought it odd when they spotted an elderly woman at a local market stuffing green onions and meat into her designer LV bag.

They followed the woman to her daughter's home where they discovered  more than  400 fake luxury bags including LV and Fendi.
