 The Chinese embassy in Germany has issued an announcement expressing firm opposition to the German human rights committee's reception of "Taiwan representatives," urging Germany to abide by the one-China principle.

"There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China," the embassy reiterated on Tuesday on its official website.

The one-China principle is a universally recognized norm for international relations and the consensus of the international community, said the embassy, adding that abiding by the principle is a political commitment made by Germany and the political foundation of China-Germany relations.

The embassy urged Germany to follow what it has promised and comprehensively and accurately implement the one-China principle.

The announcement was made after the German Bundestag Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid on Monday met the so-called "Taiwan representatives" and exchanged views with local officials from the island on China-related issues. Some German politicians even published irresponsible remarks.

Recently, some German politicians have ignored the one-China principle, hyped China's internal affairs issues including the Taiwan question and the national security law for Hong Kong, interfered in China's internal affairs, which was despised by the Chinese people. This cannot change the fact that Taiwan is part of China, nor change the Chinese people's strong determination to defend territorial integrity and achieve reunification of the country.

In early October, German Ambassador to the UN, Christoph Heusgen, on behalf of 39 countries, attacked China on human rights issues, especially those in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. However, on the same occasion, 45 countries stated support for China in its policies on Xinjiang and 55 countries for its policies on Hong Kong affairs.
