Physicist Yang Zhenning, 87, recently confirmed to the media that his 33-year-old wife Weng Fan is three months pregnant with his baby, said a report by China Daily website.

News of the pregnancy shocked many people, and some think the event will be remembered in Chinese modern history.

Born in Hefei，Anhui Province in1922, Yang is a Chinese-American physicist who worked on statistical mechanics and particle physics. He, together with Tsung-dao Lee, received the 1957 Nobel Prize in physics.Yang became a naturalized US citizen in 1964.

In January 2005 the then 82-year-old Yang married 28-year-old Weng after Yang  finished her Master'degree at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Foreign Trade.
