Sanxia (Chongqing) National Geological Park opens

China's largest natural geological museum Sanxia (Chongqing) National Geological Park has been opened to tourists, Chongqing Land and Housing Bureau announced on Monday. The park strides across Chongqing Municipality and Hubei Province and covers an area of 12,500 square kilometers.

It boasts natural landscapes and historic sites such as Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, "Wushan Man" fossils, and archaeological sites from the Daxi culture, among others.

There are a total of six geological parks in Chongqing Municipality: Four within Wulong Karst National Geopark, Qianjiang National Geological Park, Yunyang Longgang National Geopark, Sanxia National Geological Park; and the other two, which are under construction, are Wansheng Shilin National Geopark and Chongqing Qijiang Petrified Wood – Dinosaur Footprint National Geological Park.
