 Boao Forum for Asia

The opening ceremony of the 2012 annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia was held in south China's Hainan Province on April 2.

Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang attended the ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.

China Report has his words.

Li said in his speech that promoting internal growth drivers is the new trend in Asia's open economic development.   While continuing to unleash its comparative advantages in global competition, it is important for Asia to explore and expand markets of domestic demand.

Li also said China will deepen reforms and opening-up to remove obstacles on its course to transfer growth mode and drive economic and social development.

This year's forum adopts the theme "Asia in the Changing World: Moving toward Sound and Sustainable Development."

More than 2,000 government, business and academic leaders from around the world attended the meeting.

Started on Sunday, the three-day forum is being held in Boao, a scenic town on the eastern coast of Hainan.

It introduces a wide range of topics, including eurozone debt crises, employment and growth, the reform of the international monetary system as well as the strategic breakthrough of Asian manufacturing.

The Boao Forum for Asia is a non-governmental and non-profit international organization founded in 2001.

It has been committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries closer to their development goals.
