Li Changchun, a top official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has asked the media to assist the spread of common knowledge on nuclear power to foster an amiable environment for its development.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks Friday on a research tour to the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation.

He said China's development of nuclear power had assisted the country's efforts to adjust energy structure, protect eco-environment, spur technology improvements and increase the national prowess.

He urged the media to actively publicize the development of the new energy to foster a friendly atmosphere for its development.

Meanwhile, Li asked the corporation to further step up international cooperation to improve and innovate its operation so as to make greater contributions to the country's efforts to build an eco-friendly society.
