Lao National Assembly President Pany Yathortou met on Monday with Speaker of Myanmar's upper house, the Amyotha Hluttaw, Khin Aung Myint who led the delegation to Vientiane, Laos' capital, according to state-run newspaper Vientiane Times.
"We should prepare memorandums of understanding as a legal reference for our future cooperation," Yathortou said at their meeting.
Yathortou suggested greater cooperation and exchanges of information between the two governments, such as technical expertise, training, legislation, socio-economic development, promotion and management.
Myint said Myanmar was interested in expanding cooperation between the two countries within the ASEAN framework.
Yathortou congratulated Myanmar for its progress in national construction, building national reconciliation and democratization. Myint emphasized that the main task of the Myanmar government would be to build national reconciliation and lead the country towards true democracy.
Yathortou highly valued the visit of the Myanmar delegation, saying it will help build healthy and strong ties of cooperation between the two countries.
