The Philippine government said on Tuesday that it has taken the necessary measures to ensure that the country will not be a safe haven for terrorists.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte cited the passage of two laws on money laundering which are designed to make it difficult for terrorists to finance their activities.

Valte also said all Philippine law enforcement agencies are cooperating with law enforcement agencies abroad.

The Philippine government issued the statement after the United States National Counter-Terrorism Center's release of a report which cited the Philippines as among the top 15 countries in the world with high incidents of terrorist attacks and kidnappings.
