German airline Condor to begin direct flights to Siem Reap in Nov.

German airline Condor is scheduled to begin regularly direct flights between Germany's Frankfurt and Cambodia's Siem Reap province from November 3, 2012, Cambodia's tourism minister Thong Khon said Friday.

In the operations, the Condor will use a Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which has a capacity of over 200 passengers, he said, adding that there will be one flight a week.

"It will be the historical and first-ever direct flights between the two countries," he told Xinhua over telephone. "The upcoming direct flights will help boost tourism, trade and investment ties between Cambodia and Germany."

According to the latest statistics of the tourism ministry, during the first three months of this year, Cambodia received 26, 900 German visitors, up 9 percent from 24,660 in the same period last year.

Cambodia's Siem Reap province houses the Angkor Wat temples, one of the world heritage sites.
