Qu Yuan himself was a noble man; he was loyal to Chu, when the country was dominated by the downfallen regime, and who eventually committed suicide in a river. According to the way that some people distinguish "love the country" and "love the government", he really doesn't deserve to have Chinese people eating traditional zongzi for thousands of years to commemorate him. However, we still respect and remember Qu because he never gave up on the country which "sucked" under Chu. Patriotism is always simple: No matter how weak China is, I love it, no matter how strong the US is, I only admire it.

@raining---秦淮:Hu Xijin's words make sense. We wish for our country to get better and develop further with more contributions from people, and the wish, of course, is from the simple heart.

@陈昊之养草ing:Desperate heroes are always easier to memorialize. People long for Qu Yuan because of the rotten country which prevailed under Chu. Memorizing Qu is also to blame that desperate country. No matter how weak my country is, I will love her; however it doesn't mean I must unconditionally accept it, or lose my expectations for it.

@槿姬Jenny:From looking at his work, Qu Yuan died for his identity as a poet rather than a politician, and for himself rather than his country. His death can be seen as a young man's desperation over being frustrated.
