Students try to take over girls’ building in annual university water carnival

On Friday night, thousands of students who had just left a graduation party at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hubei Province gathered in front of a dormitory building to continue celebrating at another non-official section of their party: water carnival.
The festival started in 2006, when a freshman at the No.20 dormitory building poured water down on students passing by. Although the girl reportedly received some punishment from the university, the event evolved into an annual festival, which the university no longer interferes with.
Shouting, “take the No.20 building and grab the girls,” the boys tried to storm the building. The shrieking girls countered by pouring water from their balconies. The water reveling lasted until midnight before the crowds dispersed.
