Three children were killed and another two injured in separate incidents on Thursday evening in Syria's northwestern province of Idlib, state-run SANA news agency said.

The two kids, 10 and 12 years old respectively, were killed by the blast of an improvised explosive device at al-Makhbas area in Idlib, said SANA, adding that two other kids were injured in the blast along with a 21-year-old young woman. The official agency said the explosives had been planted by "terrorists."

Another six-year-old kid was also killed by a stray bullet of armed groups, which were shooting indiscriminately at the town of Azmarine in Idlib.

At the Palestinian camp, Yarmouk, located in the capital Damascus, a small pickup truck went off at the 30 street while two men were rigging it with explosives, witnesses said, adding that both men were killed.

On the opposition side, the activist network, Local Coordination Committees, said that as many as 120 people were killed nationwide Thursday, 42 of whom were killed around Damascus.

Activists blame the Syrian troops for the daily death toll.

Another activist network, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, placed the death toll as more than 140. The Observatory said that Syrian troops have bombarded the Damascus' suburb of Douma and areas of the eastern Deir al-Zour province.

Both areas are scenes of armed insurgency and strongholds of armed rebels.

The activists' reports couldn't be independently checked.

The 16-month-old unrest in Syria has become more militarized as clashes between the Syrian troops and armed rebels have hit new high recently. The UN estimates that over 10,000 people have died over the past year, while the Syrian authorities said they are fighting foreign-backed armed groups and over 2,000 troops were killed during attacks on government establishments.
