Shenzhen plans to introduce a classification system to its metro railway system, in which the trains that run beneath the city surface will have VIP compartments, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
Zhao Penglin, deputy secretary-general of Shenzhen government, confirmed the plan on Thursday, saying the first-class compartments will ensure each passenger has a seat, at the cost of twice as much as a regular ticket.
The segregated compartments "meet passengers' different demands," Zhao said.
