The USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), a hospital vessel of the US Navy's Military Sealift Command, docked at Cua Lo Port in Vietnam's central Nghe An province on Tuesday under the Pacific Partnership Program 2012, reported Vietnam News Agency.
On board are 1,200 sailors and staff from many countries. During their two-week stay, the Mercy staff, together with those from the Oosumi vessel of the Japanese coast guards, which already docked at Cua Lo Port, will provide civil humanitarian support to the local people by joining in implementation of two construction projects, six healthcare projects, four veterinary projects, three bio-medical projects and three experts exchange projects.
Besides, tours to visit local healthcare stations and vocational training centers for the disabled people will also be held for Japanese and American visitors.
