The 2012 London Olympic Games is just around the corner. In the lead-up to the sporting event, get to know more about the country that is hosting the Games through a varied mix of events at Yugong Yishan. There will be markets, exhibitions and music throughout the week, all there to provide greater insight into the cities, the people and culture of the UK.

Friday

Footprint presents: John Tejada

Born into a music family, John Tejada grew up in an environment where his mother was a tenor and his father was a conductor of an orchestra. As time passed by, Tejada began to listen to hip hop, rock and electro and had job titles like producer, remixer, DJ and label owner. Now he is coming to Beijing to entertain his many fans. Check him out.

Metal night

Enjoy your black Friday on July 13 with metal bands Tartarus, Raging Mob, Tunshu, Dream Spirit, Wanjiebufu and Skeletal Augury. They really will give you a lesson on what metal music is all about.

In memory of acting master Chen Qiang

China Film Museum is holding a film screening to commemorate this great film star. A total of 10 films which star Chen Qiang will be screened. On Saturday comedy Fu Yu Zi (Father and Son) will be playing. Chen Qiang acts alongside his son Chen Peisi, who is also an actor. This light-hearted film tells the story of a father and son who go into business together.

When, where and how much: 1 pm, China Film Museum, admission free

UCCA French film: Flanders

Celebrate Bastille Day by appreciating the classic French film Flanders. It tells the story of a young man named Demester who falls in love with Barbe. He is so in love that he overlooks all her bad habits and her many lovers. But then he joins the local army and is sent far away, leaving Barbe waiting alone for him to come back.

When, where and how much: 2 pm, UCCA, 15 yuan, 10 yuan for students

Sunday

Erguotou liquor factory tour

Baijiu is China's unique liquor and appears on almost every dining table in the country's restaurants. The baijiu family is big, and includes labels like Moutai, Wuliangye, as well as Beijing's erguotou. This Sunday, China Culture Center will take curious people for a closer look at how the liquor is made and a chance to sample some of it in the process.

When, where and how much: 1 pm to 4:30 pm, meet at China Culture Center, 150 yuan for adults, 100 yuan for children between 6-12 years old
