Kweichow Moutai Co announced Monday that it produced 42,000 tons of baijiu - a popular indigenous form of liquor - in the first six months of this year. Of this amount, 24,000 tons were moutai, a high-end baijiu, up 15.3 percent year-on-year.
The company said its sales reached 17.8 billion yuan ($2.81 billion) from January to June, up 38 percent year-on-year.
Kweichow Moutai intends to produce 33,000 tons of moutai and 42,000 tons of other baijiu this year and generate a yearly sales revenue of 35 billion yuan in 2012, according to its board chairman, Yuan Renguo.
