Belarus' First Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko issued a statement confirming that an   assembly plant from China's Geely will go into production Belarus in 2013.

China Geely Automobile will localize its production in Belarus at least to an extent of 50 percent in compliance with an inter-governmental agreement on industrial assembly between the two countries, said Semashko.

According to him, Belarus has assembled two Geely models, which are taking a certification test now. It plans to expand the capacity of Borisov Works of Automobile and Tractor Electric Equipment (BATE), and assemble highly localized models in a Minsk-based industrial park, where BATE is located.

According to earlier reports, Borisov-based Avtogydrousilitel, a major Belarusian car maker, will implement a project to assemble cars in cooperation with the Chinese homegrown automaker Geely Holding Group. In April of this year, Belarus' Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich aired a plan to build a car assembly plant with an annual capacity of 60,000 units in 2012-2015 and increase the number to 120,000 in 2015-2016. At present, Chinese-Belarusian Joint Venture Geely plans to assemble the first series of 10,000 cars in 2013, Minsk Region Governor Boris Batura said in June.
