Another five int'l airlines to extend flight to Myanmar in October

Another five international airlines have obtained the permission from the Myanmar Department of Civil Aviation to extend flight to Myanmar in October, local media reported Friday.

These airlines are Taiwan region's EVA Air, South Korea's KAL, Japan's All Nippon Airways, Hong Kong-based Dragonair and Qatar Airways, said the Yangon Times.

Of them, EVA will operate its flight to Myanmar thrice a week while the South Korean airlines will fly between Incheon and Yangon, and the All Nippon Airways (ANA) between Tokyo and Yangon.

The ANA, which had stopped its flight for 12 years, will re- operate the Narita-Yangon-Narita route three times a week and the charter flight between Tokyo and Yangon. The Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon- Hanoi-Tokyo route will also be launched by using Boeing 767.

Qatar Airways, which had suspended flight since 2008, will resume flights between Doha and Yangon.

Furthermore, airlines from Germany and Bangladesh had approached Myanmar's civil aviation authorities for launching direct flight to Yangon.

Flights between Yangon and the Philippine capital of Manila are expected to be launched before the end of this year.

At present, there are 13 foreign airlines flying to Yangon. They are Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Thai Airways International, Indian Airlines, Air Asia, Taiwan region's China Airlines, Singapore's Silk Air, Malaysian Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Jetstar Asia, and Vietnam Airlines.
