Turkish police confiscated 106 kg heroin in the province of Adana in southern Turkey on Monday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

Acting on a tip-off, Adana police chased a suspected truck heading to Turkey's largest city, Istanbul, the report said, adding that the police intercepted the truck in the northwestern province of Eskisehir.

Following the search, the police found 106 kg heroin hidden in the vehicle and detained three suspects in connection with the illicit drug.

Turkey has long reportedly been a transit point for drug smuggling from Middle East to Europe.
