To save themselves a few steps before reaching the bus, several residents living in Hefei, capital of Anhui Province, dug out the sign marking a local bus stop and moved it to the curb in front of their homes.

"This sign was moved several days ago, and we have no choice but to stop at it," said one bus driver. "When we see a sign for a bus stop, we have to stop the bus."

According to a resident nearby, the sign was dug out of the ground by several women one night, and its new location is a hundred meters away from its original spot.

"The result is," said the resident, "many passengers still head for the original stop, but can't find it."

Hefei Bus Group said some residents arbitrarily moved the sign for their own convenience. "We moved the sign back to its correct location, but it was taken again before too long," one staff member said.

The residents of two neighborhoods have been squabbling over the location of the bus stop, and the sign has been moved twice in one week, according to a local resident.
