A NATO helicopter made a forced landing in eastern Afghanistan Tuesday morning, causing no fatalities, the NATO-led coalition said.

"An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) helicopter made a forced landing in eastern Afghanistan today," the NATO-led ISAF said in a statement.

"There were no reported fatalities and the site of the incident is secure. Initial reporting indicates that there was no enemy activity in the area at the time," it said.

Without giving details about the exact location of the incident, the ISAF statement added that "ISAF is still in the process of assessing the circumstances to determine more facts."

Violence has been on the rise since Taliban launched an annual spring offensive on May 3.

A total of 11 people, including seven US troops, three Afghan soldiers and a local translator, were killed when a Black Hawk helicopter crashed in southern Kandahar province on August 16.
