Mozambican President Armando Guebuza is set to arrive in Rwanda on Tuesday for a two-day visit to find a solution to the conflict in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).

The president, who will be accompanied by Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs Oldemiro Baloi, makes the trip as part of a decision taken at the 32nd summit of Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) held in Maputo this month.

Guebua visits Rwanda as the SADC chairperson. At the end of the summit, he said that he believes that both DR Congo and Rwanda are in a position of coming to a solution through dialogue.

"I believe that there is always room for dialogue between the two: Rwanda and Republic Democratic of Congo," the SADC chairperson said.

During the summit, SADC leaders called on Rwanda to stop supporting Congolese rebels being accused of massacring civilians and fighting against the government of President Joseph Kabila. Rwanda has denied involvement in the conflict in DR Congo.

This is the first action plan agreed upon during the summit in Maputo, under which Mozambique represents the 15-member SADC including DR Congo on a mission to seek a solution.
