The Algerian army forces killed nine terrorist militants in an operation in the country's Boumerdes province, some 50 km east of the capital Algiers, local APS news agency reported Thursday.

The report quoted a statement of the Defense Ministry as saying that nine elements of a terror group were killed in an operation Thursday morning, while five Kalashnikovs, three semi-automatic rifles, two shotguns, two solar panels, a quantity of ammunition were confiscated.

"Thanks to the help of local residents, anti-terrorism army units managed to locate on Wednesday a terror group comprising nine elements in the area of Djebel Djerrah, in the locality of Beni Amran in Boumerdes," according to the statement.
