Philippine soldiers capture 2 militants involved in Dos Palmas kidnapping

Philippine soldiers captured two Abu Sayyaf militants allegedly involved in the 2001 Dos Palmas kidnapping, a military official said Thursday.

According to Lt. Col. Randolf Cabangbang, spokesman of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), the suspects were arrested in a raid Wednesday night in a Bukana village at the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte. The suspects were identified as Jojo Imam Pai and a certain Aling.

He said the two suspects were involved in the abduction of 20 tourists at the Dos Palmas resort in Palawan province.

The captured suspects were immediately brought to the militant camp for tactical interrogation before they were be subsequently turned over to the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
