Traffic inside Beijing's Fourth Ring Road will become more congested due to an increase in cars and population. Over the next 10 years economic tendencies and monetization will slow down, but urbanization and globalization will rise. Therefore, Beijing will have more residents and see more Chinese and overseas leaders travel frequently, all of which will deteriorate traffic inside the Fourth Ring Road. I suggest using Weibo as a platform to brainstorm, and seek solutions instead of ignoring possible consequences.

@金岩石 :I have some ideas to open the subject for discussion. One, move some state institutions and departments out of the Fourth Ring Road area; two, build an auxiliary capital; three, construct a magnetic suspended railway connecting Beijing and Tianjin in order to distribute population; four, build a state guest house in the suburban areas to fulfill related needs; five, learn from Shanghai to auction car plates in order to increase the threshold of owning a car; six, research a three-dimensional public transport network inside the Fourth Ring Road; seven, learn from Tokyo on how to raise fines for illegal vehicles and parking lot fees.

@开心鼠6868:Continue building the rail network within the city in order to make people feel that taking the subway is much better and efficient than driving cars.

@巴曙松: I suggest promoting counter-urbanization, sub-urbanization, and build satellite cities.

@海冲迹主:We cannot blindly build a satellite city which will reduce people's quality of life and increase the cost of living. Additionally, a satellite city may create an extension to traffic congestion.

@BricJeffrey:
I agree with the idea of building a satellite city. Beijing used to focus on the development of its northern part, which doesn't have a strong link to the neighboring Hebei Province. The southern part is the future exit of Beijing. Beijing should share more resources with neighboring Heibei and Tianjin, which could be mutually beneficial.

@李爱国1:We need to learn from the lessons drawn from the mistakes made by foreign big cities. We should implement a "Greater Beijing" strategy such as moving part of the functions of the city out of Beijing in order to reduce the density of the population of the urban center, ease traffic pressure, reduce housing prices, and reduce pollution. Furthermore, a "Greater Beijing" strategy can bridge the urban-rural gap, accelerate urbanization, and also improve the quality of life for others. I believe "Greater Beijing" is the only way to resolve current traffic congestion and control the city's pollution. As for the question of when we should we begin to carry out this strategy, in my opinion, the sooner the better.

@当爹的年代:
We should construct a large-scale parking lot outside the Sixth Ring Road. And inside the Sixth Ring Road only allow public transportation, like subways, buses, and taxis to operate. We should also lower public transport fees, and increase the cost to use private and official cars.
