A Chinese court sentenced Wang Lijun, former vice mayor and police chief of Chongqing Municipality, to 15 years in prison Monday after finding him guilty of bending the law for selfish ends, defection, abuse of power and bribe-taking, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

@孤竹顽石:Revelations in Wang Lijun's case: his selfish desire helped speculators to climb the greasy pole; his rewards gave courage to those people used to betraying others. Furthermore, the most pathetic point is when all the speculators and betrayers were gathering around him, he found that he will never regain the power of defending truth.

@余文博4076:I want to ask that who should be held responsible for Wang Lijun's case. In the old days, he was a heroic figure who became one of the most important leaders of Chongqing overnight, and nowadays he is sent to jail. What should related government departments learn from this case? How to reform the system of official selection and appointment? Why didn't the related departments and individuals step forward to shoulder the responsibility?

@林圣2011:A hero of old becoming a prisoner is not weird at all. Social media can only play the role of guerrilla fighters rather than being the main army in the battle of anti-corruption. Occasional case cannot help to completely uproot the hotbed of corruption, the exercise of power has to be restrained by the system and monitored by public opinion.
