China's Huawei awards top female university students in Ethiopia

Huawei, China's leading solution provider, on Tuesday awarded the latest PAD system to outstanding Ethiopian female university students.

The award ceremony took place at the conclusion of the 22nd Ethiopia's National Training and Education Conference which kicked off on Monday on the premises of the African Union Conference Center (AUCC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Handing over Huawei's awards to the students, Mekonnen Demeke, Ethiopian Education Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, hailed the contribution made by Huawei which is also co-partner of the Ethiopian Ministry of Education for organizing the conference.

He thanked the company for the award and other activities aimed at supporting the Ministry's activities.

Passing the awards to the Minister, Austin Pan, General Director of Huawei Ethiopia, expressed happiness by providing the awards to the outstanding female students in Ethiopia.

"We are happy to award 22 top female graduates and 8 students from emerging regional states the latest PAD system of Huawei even the world. This pad system had the strongest hardware with the chip designed and produced by Huawei technologies," said the General Manager.

Pan, particularly told Xinhua that the award which is latest technology of Huawei, would help the awardees for study, training, entertainment, and communication.He also thanked all those parties involved in the organization of the conference, who have provided the opportunity for Huawei to present the award.

In his remarks after the award ceremony, the general manager stated that as a leading ICT solution provider, Huawei has a rich experience and solution in e-education from terminals, networks, cloud data centers and service enabling platforms.

According to Pan, up to now Huawei has successfully helped more than 40 countries around the world to build the national e- education platform and cooperate with universities in many countries.

Sara is from Jimma University and she said: "I am very happy. And I would like to thank Huawei. It encourages me to do more."

Another awardee from Mede Welabu University and who goes by name Helina, appreciated Huawei for the award.

"I am so happy for this award of this technology. This is good award for me and I am going to learn more to support my country. I am a lucky one to have this technology. So, it is appreciable and I want to ask the company to continue with this award to encourage other students," she said.
