Bribery and fraud are the most common corruption crimes in the country, but the rate was low compared to the rest of the world, Vice President of Cuba's Council of State and General Comptroller Gladys Bejerano said Tuesday.

At the opening session of the XI International Conference of Criminal Sciences 2012, Bejerano said corruption is one of the main enemies of the Cuban Revolution.

She said the felonies are usually associated with the sectors of trade, imports and exports, adding that Cuba has "only a few" such cases compared with other countries.

"There are some cases. We want none to exist, but they are not excessive," she said.

Since taking office in 2008, Cuba's top leader Raul Castro has pursued an anti-corruption campaign targeting high-ranking officials and foreign businesses accused of bribing local officials.
