Four people were killed and 10 wounded in separate bomb and gunfire attacks in Iraq on Saturday, the police said.

A soldier was killed and three were wounded when a roadside bomb went off around noon near an Iraqi army patrol in Taji area, some 20 km north of the capital Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

In the early hours of the day, gunmen broke into a house at a village near the city of Samarra, some 120 km north of Baghdad, and shot dead a man and wounded two of his family members, a local police source told Xinhua anonymously.

In a separate incident, a policeman was killed and another wounded in a roadside bomb explosion near their patrol in central the city of Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, a local police source told Xinhua.

In Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, a magnetic bomb attached to a minibus carrying school children detonated in the city of Saadiyah, some 120 km northeast of Baghdad, killing a school teacher and wounding four children, a provincial police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Violence in Iraq has ebbed from its climax in 2006 and 2007, when sectarian conflicts pushed the country to the brink of a civil war. But tensions and sporadic shootings and bombings are still common across the country.
