A security vehicle turned over on a road in Sinai of Egypt and killed 18 military conscripts and wounded six others, a security source told Xinhua Monday.

"The number of victims are still being counted," the source said, noting that the vehicle was carrying 45 security personnel in all.

The wounded, along with the bodies of the dead, have been taken to a hospital in Al-Arish, the capital of North Sinai, Health Ministry undersecretary Tarek Khater said, adding that those in critical conditions will be transferred to be treated in the capital Cairo.

Meanwhile, Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi has ordered the armed forces and Interior Ministry officials to head to the accident site to help rescue the injured people.
